Yale Alumni United

You can make a difference! Help make sure that the educational relationship between Yale and graduate students is not tainted by unionization.

Steps you can take include:

1. Publicize this site

This site provides resources to educate about GESO, UNITE-HERE and the AFL-CIO.

Email links to your friends, mention it in your blog, post it to your email list, whatever it takes. GESO can't stand the light that this site shines upon their corrupt and shameful practices.

Encourage others to share their opinion in the discussion forum.

2. Speak out! Be heard!

Make the "silent majority" a lot more vocal. Speak up about your views. Be reasonable and cool-headed when dealing with hot-headed agitators and they will look irrational and incapable of dialouge. Tell your friends how you feel, without imposing on them like GESO organizers.

When you are confronted by GESO organizers be rational and relaxed while you expain your viewpoint.

Forward news articles about GESO to friends, family, and others who want to know the truth. Both the Yale Daily News and the Yale Herald allow users to email articles to friends. Take advantage of that feature!

GASO no longer seems to be active, but their website has a number of posters that can be printed and posted.

Report GESO harassment and intimidation in the discussion forum.

3. Write to the Newspapers!

The Yale Daily News, Yale Herald, and New Haven Register all welcome letters to the editor. Explain the reasons why you don't support GESO, any intimidation or harassment from GESO organizers that you have experienced, and other problems with GESO. Be persistant, not every letter is published but if more are sent then more are likely to be published.

4. Write the University!

Write to university officials about your viewpoint on GESO and encourage Yale to stand fast against outside agitators.

5. Stand Up Against GESO!

Don't roll-over when confronted by GESO organizers. Stand up and stand strong for democracy. Don't let GESO take over "town hall" events, make sure that your voice is heard. Debunk their myths and don't let them dictate half-truths and lies to the Yale community

6. Spread the Word!

The Yale "Committee for Freedom" is currently working to stop GESO lies and intimidation. Join them in the fight!
